The Rock is about to star as Black Adam, but it turns out that Dwayne Johnson was also considering joining the MCU. In fact, The Rock might still be joining Marvel.
You know, we just wrote about what Christian Bale looks like in Thor: Love & Thunder and I mentioned that there are so many actors that are starring in both the MCU and the DC universe, which, to me, doesn't make sense when there are so many deserving actors out there. With The Rock though, that dude is so one of a kind, that I can see how Marvel wants the big bald Johnson in their movies.
The Rock Met With Marvel: Could Appear in MCU One Day
Hiram Garcia, the head of The Rock's production company Seven Bucks, confirmed that Dwayne Johnson met with Marvel several times. He then went on to star as Black Adam – or is about to – but that seemingly won't stop him from joining the other side. Here's what Garcia told Collider:
[Dwayne Johnson] and Kevin [Feige] have a great relationship and we've flirted around a few ideas before, but nothing serious. There's a mutual admiration for what we each have been doing and what Kevin has built over there is truly incredible. Ultimately though for us, we've always been very committed to what we wanted to build with Black Adam. Black Adam was the character we wanted to bring to life and who we felt DJ was destined to play. Once we set our sites on this character over a decade ago it was hard to imagine DJ plaging anyone else.
Mutual admiration. A great relationship... hmmm... again: Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Idris Elba, Ryan Reynolds – they all played roles in both cinematic universes. If Kevin Feige already has a hook in The Rock, it's hard to see him let that big ass fish go.
Now, on a personal note: The Rock would be the perfect Luke Cage... just saying. But since that role is already taken, how about this one: Not a lot of people know this, but Hercules also appears in the Marvel comics. Thor is not the only mythological figure. Why not bring Hercules to the big screen and have The Rock play him in the MCU? He already starred as Hercules in the terribly mythology-based movie we're trying to forget. Why not run it back with better producers and better directors?
Anyway, for now The Rock is locked into this epic piece, so let's enjoy that one first:
Great quick read on our #blackadam journey with our @SevenBucksProd president @hhgarcia41 Our commitment is deep 10yr odyssey. But I always believe things don't "get done" when they're ready, things get done when it's right. From slave to antihero.#blackadamEnjoy https://t.co/L9FZl5MCAL
