While the whole world is looking for and anticipating who the next James Bond may be, The Rock threw his hat into the ring as the latest challenger.
So, when you think of a spy, you think of someone who can blend in, right? A secret agent has to be in and out of sticky situations like a thief in the night, not leaving a trace. Basically, an agent should not be 6'5'', and over 260 pounds, bald and the previous sexiest man alive. Yet, here we are: The Rock wants to be the next James Bond, and is looking to take custom-tailored suits to a whole new level.
Will Dwayne Johnson Be the Next James Bond?
Well, we all know that Daniel Craig is done with the suit and (bow)tie, so the world is looking for its next 007. Tom Hardy and Henry Cavill seem to be two of the front-runners, and Idris Elba is a fan-favorite to take on the role. Of course, Henry and Idris wouldn't exactly fit an agent's requirement to blend in either, but they'd probably fare better than the tequila-drinking-bald-headed-smack-talking-iron-pumping-son-of-a-gun: The Rock.
Rock made his Bond-ly desires known in an interview with Esquire, and even pointed out that his grandfather, Peter Maiva, played a Bond villain in You Only Love Twice:
"Yes, my grandfather was a Bond villain in You Only Live Twice with Sean Connery. [It] was very, very cool. And I would like to follow in his footsteps and be the next Bond."
Of course, Rock is not exactly British, and also not exactly serious when he says: "I don't want to be a villain. Got to be Bond." Still, it adds another top-tier contender to the long list, which, presumably, is currently led by Tom Hardy as the current studio favorite.
