The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is a brand-new animated show that was first teased at Witchercon 2021. Now we finally have the first trailer, cast, and characters. Here are all the details.

The story of the Witcher franchise is one of the most interesting ones we can think of. It started as a Polish fantasy series, but the books by Andrzej Sapkowski slowly took over the world. Things skyrocketed even further when CDPR decided to make video games based on The Witcher. The third entry in the series proved to be an absolute masterpiece beloved by fans.

In 2020 Netflix joined the party with a Witcher TV show featuring Henry Cavill as Geralt. Now it looks like they're not done, as the next Witcher animated show is also being made by Netflix. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will serve as a prequel to the TV show and focus on Geralt's mentor – Vesemir. Here's all you need to know about it.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf Trailer

Let's start with the first trailer for the show, which gives us a glimpse at the world, characters, and what it might be about.

In The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, Vesemir will embark on an adventure to defeat a strange new monster. However, this quest will also force him to confront his past.

It's weird to see the old and grumpy Vesemir as a young Witcher, but it somehow fits him. In any case, it looks like it'll be action-packed!

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf – Cast and Characters

The cast for the new animated show was also revealed, along with the characters they will be voicing. Here's the list:

  • Theo James as Vesemir
  • Lara Pulver as Tetra
  • Mary McDonnell as Lady Zerbst
  • Graham McTavish as Deglan

Netflix also mentioned that Graham McTavish will be voicing Dijkstra in Season 2. That's right, season 2 for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is already confirmed. The whole thing is produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich who's also behind the TV series with Cavill. If you enjoyed the latter, you probably won't be disappointed by the upcoming animated show.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf Release Date

Now for the big question of the day – How long will we have to wait to actually see it? The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is set to come out in a month on August 23, 2021. That's certainly good news.
