Twitch sure is making some notable changes lately by getting rid of the hot tub meta and now changing subscription prices based on your country. Neat!

The big purple platform is still the place to go when you want to see your favorite streamers. Twitch is the uncontested streaming platform, and it's also listening to fan feedback. The latter is the reason for one of the biggest changes we've seen in Twitch history - subscription prices will change based on your location.

Subscription Prices Change in Most Countries

Twitch will take into account the price of living in various countries outside the US and adjust the subscription prices accordingly. In more simple terms, expect the prices to drop in most countries that are not the US.

It’s time for subscription pricing that’s adjusted for where viewers live. Prices that make it so more people than ever can feel comfortable showing their support and enjoying the benefits of a subscription.

Turkey and Mexico will be the first two countries to get adjusted.

Over the next few months, we’ll be adjusting the price of subscriptions (existing subs, new paid subs, and gift subs) in most countries to better align with their local cost of living. First up will be Mexico and Turkey on May 20, 2021, which are home to creators and viewers who have been passionate about this change for quite some time.

Subscription adjustments will roll out in the third fiscal quarter of 2021 in many other regions of the world like Asia, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Before making the big decision Twitch ran some tests and concluded that reduced prices lead to increased revenue for the content creators:

Prior to making this decision, we conducted several price tests and saw that lower sub prices boosted overall monthly subs and sub revenue for creators. In one recent test in Brazil, lower sub prices more than doubled creator revenue and total subscriber count.

Do you think the price changes will make Twitch even more popular? Will you be getting more subscriptions? Tell us on Facebook or Twitter!
