Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland has been charged with domestic battery as well as a felony count of false imprisonment.
The co-creator and voice actor of Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland has been charged with domestic battery as well as false imprisonment in Orange County, California.
As first reported by NBC, the 42-year-old Justin Roiland, was charged due to a felony complaint – which was obtained and reported on by Variety – the incident in question occurred “on or around January 19, 2020, against an unnamed Jane Doe who was dating Roiland at the time.”
The exact charges for his trial are one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury, as well as one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit.
According to NBC, Roilant was first charged in May 2020. After his arrest, he was released on a $50,000 bond and was then accused in October 2020. Roiland pleaded not guilty back in 2020 and is set to have his pre-trial hearing on January 13, 2023. There is no official trial date yet, however on April 27, 2023, the creator of Rick and Morty is due for a second pre-trial hearing.
