We're sure that back in 2001 when The Fast and the Furious came out, no one thought that it would spin-off into one of the biggest movie franchises ever. The series' success brings along a lot of haters too, but we'll have to disappoint them. Here are three reasons why the Fast & Furious series will never stop.
We are celebrating 20 years of Fast & Furious movies in 2021. Say what you will about the franchise, but you can't deny its unlikely success story. From a simple street racing flick to a mega action franchise: it's been one hell of a journey.
Not everyone is tripping over themselves about these movies and there are plenty that would want F&F to go away. News flash: it won't. Here's why.
1. Fast & Furious Movies Are Easy to Make
Yeah, there are stunts and shooting, and chases, etc., so probably not that easy to shoot for stunt doubles, but do you imagine how the script-writing process for these movies goes? It's probably something along the lines of:
- What are we doing for the next Fast & Furious movie?- Cars.- Cars?- In space!
They are turning memes into scenes, for crying out loud! The best part is people don't mind. To answer Maximus' 21-year-old question: yes, they are entertained!
2. Too Much Star Power
The lead stars back when it all started were Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Walker passed away a few years back, which left Diesel alone on the front of the franchise. Well, not really, because F&F took measures, by adding every action star in existence to the cast.
Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are such an integral part of the franchise by now, that they got their own spin-off movie. The latest installment introduced the newer generation of wrestling. Though you cannot see him in F9, John Cena is there, we assure you.
By spreading the star power beyond Vin Diesel, the franchise is secure, even if he leaves for whatever reason. Clever stuff.
3. Fast & Furious Makes Money at the Box Office
Whatever other reasons we may present, the truth is that Fast & Furious movies will keep coming at us fast, because they are furious in the box office. The immense success of F9 moved the franchise past X-Men at number seventh on the list of highest-grossing movie series of all time.
