2020 was a strong year for sim racing. The success of the genre last year has given wings to the scene and so it is hardly surprising that the number of tournaments is increasing significantly in 2021. Formula E is getting into the action with the €100,000 Formula E Accelerate Esports Championship.

Formula E Accelerate Esports Championship
The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is the world's leading series for electronic formula racing cars and, following the great success of the ABB Formula E #RaceAtHome Challenge, is going full throttle in 2021 with a brand new sim racing series.
While real motorsport professionals also competed last year, the new racing series is all about sim racers. They can qualify for the Formula E Accelerate Esports Championship within the framework of a time trial qualifying. The fastest drivers will be distributed among the 12 Formula E teams after the end of the qualifying, with each racing team providing two drivers for the 2021 season.
The €100,000 prize pool isn't the only incentive for participants. The winner will get the chance to drive a real Formula E racing car, which should be more of a thrill for a fan than any sum of money.
How to Enter the Formula E Accelerate Esports Championship
There's as little requirements as possible. Anyone who has reached the age of 16 and owns the racing simulation rFactor 2 for the PC can take part.
The aim of the qualification is to set the best time on the "Berlin Tempelhof" track. You have until January 13, 2021 to accomplish this. The 24 best drivers will move on to the next round.
The first round of the Formula E Accelerate Esports Championship itself will start on January 28, 2021. The season extends over a total of six championship rounds and ends on March 25. You can find all the details on the homepage of ABB Formula E and the homepage of developer Studio 397.
