ESL One Germany’s third day proved to be the most interesting as Team Nigma lost a series to the CIS underdogs Yellow Submarine.
The most interesting event in Dota 2 right now is without a doubt ESL One Germany. The prestigious tournament kicked off on October 5 and has given us some highly competitive Dota 2 so far. Yesterday we witnessed three more series. Alliance defeated EXTREMUM with 2-0 and Na’Vi did the same to Cyber Legacy. The most interesting one of the three proved to be between Team Nigma and Yellow Submarine.
While Nigma was the clear favorite to take the series they were already playing at a disadvantage. Just a day earlier the team announced that their captain Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi will be skipping ESL One Germany entirely. Much like during the OGA Dota PIT Season 3 Europe/CIS, standing in for him will be the team’s coach Roman "rmN-" Paley. Nigma’s performance in OGA Dota PIT was rather disappointing as they placed 7/8th out of the eight teams at the event.
Team Nigma’s disadvantage grew even further yesterday during the series against Yellow Submarine. Maroun "GH" Merhej was replaced by Youssef “SuperRudy” Fathalla for the first game in the series.
@NigmaGh will be back for Game 2 of the series. Thanks to Super Rudy for standing in#StarsAlign

Game one was a total stomp and not in favor of Nigma. Yellow Submarine won most lanes and Aliwi "w33" Omar’s Nigma couldn’t turn the tide for Team Nigma. SuperRudy didn’t play badly by any means but the team’s draft was probably what cost them the game.
GH returned for the second game but it wasn’t enough. Yellow Submarine had the classic combo of Faceless Void and Invoker that gave them quite the edge. Eventually, Nigma got zoned out of the map up until the point where they couldn’t fight them anymore. The game dragged for over 40 minutes even though it was over much earlier.

Team Nigma is clearing missing something lately, and we’re not quite sure what. KuroKy is definitely missing in the current event and perhaps his return will propel the team forward. We remain optimistic for the rest of ESL One Germany as Team Nigma can still make it at least to the playoffs.
ESL One Germany will resume tomorrow
