While there were some surprises, the general outcome of the ESL One Los Angeles regional qualifiers was exactly what many expected.
Europe
The two dominant teams in Europe were Team Secret and OG. As Leipzig Major champions, Secret were still on a streak and didn't even lose a single match through the whole qualifiers. OG made their way through the open qualifiers first and their only lost match here was against Liquid which turned the series into a tie. The third team to join the list of winners is Ninjas in Pyjamas.
CIS
Virtus.pro remained undefeated in the group stage, but their luck came to an end in the playoffs where HellRaisers knocked them down to the lower bracket. Na`VI defeated the Raisers of Heck and earned the first spot, while the Russian bears had to make it back. Defeating Cyber Legacy and getting back at HellRaisers, Virtus.pro were the second team from the region for ESL One Los Angeles.
Southeast Asia
Another surprise came in SEA where the Chengdu Major champions TNC Predator proved that they're out of shape. The team didn't manage to take a single victory in the group stage which eliminated their chances to make it to LA. Fnatic and Geek Fam were the first two teams to make it to the top, followed by Team Adroit. The three were also the teams with the most points throughout the group stage.
North America
Things got quite interesting in NA, as the four teams who reached the playoffs were Evil Geniuses, Fighting PandaS, business associates and Chaos Esports Club. EG and Chaos met in the upper bracket finals where the latter won the first game, but the Geniuses followed that up with a reverse sweep, winning the series 2-1. In the lower bracket, Chaos faced business associates and took them out with a 2-0. Jacky "EternalEnvy" Mao's Fighting PandaS had a good run in the groups but when it came to the playoffs, they failed to win a single match.
South America
We had some changes in the top teams of the SA region as paiN Gaming and Infamous failed to make it. Thunder Predator took the first spot and had an almost flawless run, losing only a single match in the group stage. After losing to Predator, beastcoast made their way to the second spot by claiming victory over FURIA Esports.
If you think something is missing from the list, it's the three teams from China who'll be decided in the next few days. The qualifier there was delayed due to the global health crisis caused by the now named COVID-19 (novel coronavirus).
The final entry to the list of teams for ESL One Los Angeles will be determined by the StarLadder Season 3 Kiev Minor which will take place in early March. The winners there will secure a spot for the Major.
