Dota 2 teams from around the world gathered in the open qualifiers of ESL One Los Angeles with the hope of earning a spot in the Major tournament. Two teams from each region made it to the closed qualifier where they joined the direct invitees. The only exception is China, as the dates for the qualifiers there were postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic and the complications it created.

Europe

The competition in Europe wasn't as high in some of the other regions. Two teams clearly stood out – OG and OG Seed. It came as no surprise that the two claimed the spots to the closed qualifier.

CIS

A lot of fans were hopeful that Danil "Dendi" Ishutin and his new team B8 will make it, but sadly they didn't manage to pull it. The two teams which we'll see more of in the next few days are Modus Unity and EXTREMUM.

North America

North America was perhaps the region with the highest number of Tier 2 teams. Team Team came out on top of along with Zoomies.

South America

Going south, we saw a lot of familiar names from recent years, but the best turned out to be Thunder Predator and Omega Gaming.

Southeast Asia

Top performers in SEA proved to be Lowkey Esports and IO Dota 2. The latter included Malaysian stars Chai "Mushi" Yee Fung and Khoo "Ohaiyo" Chong Xin.

As mentioned earlier, only China's qualifiers remain, while the rest of the regions are already playing the closed qualifiers at full speed. Sadly, all the teams that failed to make it past the open qualifiers will also miss the StarLadder Season 3 Minor. All of the teams there will be seeded directly from the ESL One Los Angeles Major closed qualifiers with four participants per region. In other words, the top teams from the closed qualifiers will qualify for the Major, while the following four will have a second shot at the Kiev Minor and potentially another chance to get a ticket to LA.
