Famous esports organization FaZe Clan has suspended Fortnite pro Daniel “Dubs” Walsh indefinitely after he used a racial slur during another player´s stream.

Who is Dubs?

Dubs was signed by the organization in May 2019 and placed 15th in the Fortnite World Cup 2019 Solo Finals, and 7th in the Duo Finals. He also qualified for this year’s Fortnite World Cup as both Duo and Solo. It is not sure yet if he will receive any further punishment.

“Heated gaming moment”

On February 29, a clip appeared on Reddit showing Dubs using a racial slur on another player's stream. The clip quickly started making the rounds online and only a few hours later, FaZe Clan announced that they would suspend Dubs indefinitely. The organization made it clear that they won't tolerate hate speech.

Consequently, in their official announcement, FaZe Clan stated that they were suspending Dubs indefinitely from representing the organization in professional competitions, streaming, or on social media channels:

FaZe also seem to be taking measures: Dubs and all other FaZe Clan members will be put through sensitivity training.

Dubs already apologized via Twitter, saying that he did not use the slur intentionally and did not want to be hurtful in any way:

Not a good look

This is only the most recent in a string of black marks for FaZe Clan. In November 2019, Jarvis “Jarvis” Kaye was banned permanently by Epic Games for using aimbots in a match, and young and upcoming talent Patrick “H1ghSky1” was banned from Twitch after it was discovered he was only 11 years old at the time (users must be at least 13 years old to own a Twitch account).

Also, in May 2019, Twitch star Turner “Tfue” Tenney sued FaZe Clan for unfairly hindering his ability to pursue his profession.

Right now, it remains to be seen whether or not Dubs will continue to represent FaZe Clan in competitive Fortnite, and how this will affect his future esports career. So make sure to follow us to keep up with the latest news in esports!
