The Royal Blues’ rampage continues in the LEC as they make a mad dash towards the playoff spots. Great mid-game execution and a miraculous Baron steal from Gilius left Origen reeling as Schalke take another victory.
The first Saturday game was key for both teams as they jockeyed for playoff spots. The opening minutes were quite even, with OG drafting strong lanes but finding no opportunities for an early kill. Schalke eventually took first blood 12 minutes in in a 5v4 tower dive, getting three kills for one - though not without some dangerously low health bars.
Schalke’s initiative had already given them a small lead when Origen got a pick on Andrei "Odoamne" Pascu’s Ornn to start off a fight only to be corralled and aced as they chased after Felix "Abbedagge" Braun’s Akali. Schalke took full control of the mid game, eventually securing a third drake. However, 30 minutes in Origen caught the enemy Akali unaware and killed her alongside the Ornn, then rushed towards Baron.
It was then that Erberk "Gilius" Demir, one of the biggest surprises of the split, rose up to his “GodGilius” nickname. His Lee Sin flashed out of the pit after a rocket grab only to get back in and land a huge Baron steal to take the wind out of Origen’s sails. Now with an overwhelming lead, S04 pressed on and aced Origen near their bot lane inhibitor several minutes later to end the game. With this, Schalke are now 5-10 and have taken a game the majority of the spring playoff teams on their desperate push towards playoffs. For Origen, meanwhile, things are looking grim. Currently standing at 6-9, they must get several wins in the upcoming Super Week to save their split.
