The coronavirus might be preventing a lot of people from leaving their home, but it can’t do anything to stop the new FIFA 20 update. The patch notes were released for PC first, but are now available to all PS4 and Xbox One users as well.
Minor FIFA 20 update just in time to cheer us up
We all know the current state of affairs. The coronavirus pandemic has caused for nearly all entertainment to be postponed and in many countries, even leaving the house is not recommended, if not straight out prohibited.
EA Sports have taken it to give us at least something to be positive about by releasing a small albeit fruitful update to FIFA 20. There aren’t any groundbreaking alterations to the game here, but the focus on fixing gameplay bugs is always a welcomed addition.
Perhaps the change that would be noticed the most is the dissolution of ball boys taking forever to bring the ball back for a throw-in, which could be particularly frustrating if you’re trailing in a match. Don’t ask me how I know.
Another one of the noticeable fixes is the very specific action of a player engaging in a tackle instead of shooting the ball following a successful Skill Move. Although we must admit that tackling the ball while it’s in your possession is a neat way to look like an idiot. Missing out on some fun here.
Anyways, here are the full patch notes for FIFA 20 update 1.17:
Gameplay
- Players will no longer perform contextual grabbing animations while in a Jockey state.
- Slightly increased precision of magnitude of analog stick inputs in online matches.
- This change is most noticeable when aiming a penalty kick during an online match.
- Slightly reduced sprint sensitivity.
- Following a Skill Move and while still in possession of the ball, players would sometimes perform a tackle instead of a requested shot.
- Addressed rare instances of a ball boy taking a long time to return the ball for a throw in.
- Added a numerical ping indicator measured in milliseconds to online match lobbies in modes that use data centers.
FUT
The ping bars remain on the lobby screen and represent the following values:
5 bars indicate 30 milliseconds or less.
4 bars indicate 31 – 76 milliseconds.
3 bars indicate 77 – 100 milliseconds.
2 bars indicate 101 – 150 milliseconds.
1 bar indicates 150 milliseconds or more.
- Added a Traits tab to the Player Details pop up, detailing all of the Traits that the selected Player Item has.
- Level 30 Seasonal Objective Player Item rewards were incorrectly displaying an out of contracts icon, this was a visual issue only.
Career Mode
- Some elements of the Premier League presentation package remained on screen during gameplay.
- Removed out of place text on CONMEBOL related News stories.
- Removed running celebrations.
- Updates to multiple kits.
