Chelsea are one of the most active teams during the transfer window and that in itself is enough to try and guess their playing squad's FIFA 21 ratings. Frank Lampard's team should be among the ones to watch next season. We begin the watch with this rating prediction.
Timo Werner, Thiago Silva, Hakim Ziyech are already at Stamford Bridge and Kai Havertz might be on the way too. In theory at least, Chelsea could be one of the strongest sides both in real life and in the FIFA universe. We try and nail what overall ratings EA Sports are going to give their key players.
UPDATE - September 05 - Kai Havertz joins Chelsea FC
He did it! German midfielder Kai Havertz is leaving Bayer 04 Leverkusen and will join Chelsea FC for around 100 Million Euro. A rating boost in FIFA 21 is safe and he is likely to receive a Ones to Watch (OTW)-Card with the upcoming release. For us, his rating will increase by two points, reaching 86 OVR.
Predicting Chelsea
Goalkeeper
Kepa - 84 OVR -> 83 OVR: There are doubts surrounding the Spanish goalie's place in London. Whether he stays or goes, we see a small decrease in his rating from last year.
Defenders
Ben Chilwell - 79 OVR -> 83 OVR: The transfer saga for the English left back went on longer than any other Chelsea transfer this summer. The Blues sure hope it would be worth it and with Chilwell's form from last season, there's no reason why his OVR shouldn't go up a notch.
Marcos Alonso - 81 OVR -> 81 OVR: Alonso's advancing age and the increased competition on the left side of defense mean he's unlikely to add to his OVR.
Antonio Rüdiger - 82 OVR > 83 OVR: The German played well when he did play. Trouble is, he did not play that much because of injuries. That's why we don't expect a huge leap from him.

Kurt Zouma - 80 OVR -> 80 OVR: Zouma will likely go down in the Chelsea pecking order and might even lose an OVR point or two. We still think he should keep his FIFA 20 score.
Thiago Silva - 87 OVR -> 87 OVR: The Brazilian is yet to show serious signs of slowing down and we don't see EA tinkering with his OVR yet.
César Azpilicueta - 84 OVR -> 83 OVR: The same cannot be said about Azpilicueta. The epitome of consistency for the past decade, maybe time is finally starting to catch up with the Spaniard.
Midfielders
Christian Pulisic - 79 OVR -> 82 OVR: Pulisic improved mightily after the pandemic and is certainly in line for a healthy rating boost.
N'Golo Kanté - 89 OVR -> 89 OVR: Kanté was simply Kanté last season. The best six in the game did not miss a beat and neither should his FIFA rating.
Mateo Kovačić - 82 OVR -> 84 OVR: The Croatian enjoyed a productive season ahead of Kanté and made it to the EPL Team of the Season. We should definitely see an improvement here.

Jorginho - 83 OVR -> 84 OVR: Jorginho's questionable fit in London is not so questionable anymore. He might remain on the same OVR level from last year, but a minimal improvement wouldn't shock us.
Hakim Ziyech - 85 OVR -> 87 OVR: Much is expected of Ziyech at Stamford Bridge. We're not sure a better FIFA 21 rating is among those, but it is among our own expectations.
Strikers
Timo Werner - 86 OVR -> 88 OVR: Werner applied his trade at the highest level in the Bundesliga and got his long-awaited big move this summer. We're yet to see if he can do it in England, but based on his accomplishments thus far combined with the big club transfer will be enough to validate a higher FIFA rating.
Tammy Abraham - 76 OVR -> 82 OVR: Tammy should be rewarded with the highest OVR jump out of Chelsea's key players. The striker slowed down in the second half of the season, yet still finished with 15 league goals. With a low starting point, he should see a vast stats increase.
