EA Sports produced the perfect game with FIFA 21, everyone is happy and now there's nothing left but add some fun features like playable celebrities. That seems to be the publisher's train of thought as stars from different fields of media, such as singer Dua Lipa and Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, are likely to make an appearance in FIFA 21's VOLTA FOOTBALL mode.
Data miners have uncovered some curious info hiding within the compounds of yesterday's FIFA 21 Title Update 5. The names and even likenesses of celebrities were decoded. Dua Lipa is potentially going to kick some balls instead of singing tunes, but is that what we really need from EA Sports?
Dua Lipa Looks Better Than Superstar Footballers in FIFA 21
So, data miners digged out the names and facial models of several celebrities within the latest FIFA 21 Title Update's coding. Dua Lipa, Lewis Hamilton, NBA stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid, NFL star Lamar Jackson and - surprise!, ex-footballer David Beckham are all in line to join the family, along with a few others. The celebrity cast is certainly going to be part of an expanding VOLTA FOOTBALL roster, unless EA really succeed at shocking us.
While that's not necessarily bad, leeet's say it made some people (definitely not us) question where EA Sports' priorities lie. Here's what we mean:
It's easy to explain why Dua Lipa looks like a digital clone of her real-life self. She's famous, signed an exclusive contract with EA for sure and the publisher is likely contractually obligated to not make her look like a drunken sailor designed her FIFA 21 character.
The issue arises when superstars that are actual footballers, which should be the focus in a football simulation video game, look like clay figures standing next to the celeb models. Poor Mason Greenwood would probably need to record a platinum album for EA to decide his face is worth scanning.
We promise to buy a copy, Mason!
