Publisher EA has once again done something nonsensical: A player was banned from FIFA 22 Ultimate Team because of his FUT club name for 7 days.
Well well well, EA swinging the ban hammer once again... at least this time around it's not about another FIFA 22 content creator. A Reddit user posted a picture showing a message from EA Support stating that their FUT club name was in violation of EA's Rules of Conduct. What's the funny name, you ask? And what are the consequences? Well, here's all the info.
Why Is This Name In Violation Of EA's Rules Of Conduct?
So, let's cut right to the chase: reddit user u/powertoola posted the following thread:
So I've been given a 7 day ban for this....... from FIFA
"PuyolPantsDown", lmao gottem. That name's funny and at least a bit creative, right? Not a tad bit annoying like most FIFA players are. Everybody likes quality dirty parody names like Moe Lester, Hugh Jass, Anita Hanjaab and many more. Turns out, EA tends to disagree.
Their Reasoning? Well, this FUT club name violates the Rules of Conduct due to "Inappropriate Content (General)". Let's have a look at the highlights of EA's Rules of Conduct then, shall we? Here ya go:
We want you to have a good time playing our games. So we expect you, like all players, to respect EA and your fellow players. This means, for example, obey the law, don’t cheat, don’t be offensive, don’t hack our software, don’t spam or bot, don’t lie to EA or our players.
I guess... it's offensive? It sure isn't disrespectful, doesn't hack their software, and doesn't spam or bot. You're probably wondering why the user didn't just change the name? He couldn't... he hasn't received a name change request from EA yet. Kind of sucks because he won't be able to access Ultimate Team until the second Future Stars team is in packs...
So, to honor the legacy of "PuyolPantsDown" and to quote u/powertoola: A 7 days ban is a complete overreaction. It surely is, EA...
