The FIFA 22 Beta brings us new information on gameplay. Since EA is probably not releasing a demo, the news of the pre-testers is very interesting. We all want to know what FIFA 22 will feel like.

The leaks start with a special treat: The goalkeepers are broken again. Great, does this mean that when FIFA 22 is released, we all have to pray that our keepers don't let easy balls in? The answer is: No. The opposite is the case.

On Reddit and Twitter, beta leakers write that the goalkeepers make inhuman saves and are generally harder to overcome than ever before. That doesn't sound so bad to us at first, because, as already described, it was often enough the other way around in previous years.

But if we then fire the 15th shot on the goal without scoring, a controller could hit our screens. Which would be a pity, because we would like to play FIFA 22 on the PS5 and... not destroy our controllers right away. All in all, the leaks say that it's especially exhausting to score goals, because the A.I. of the defense is very strong in blocking, and you have to be relatively free to finish so that the ball even hits the box.

In combination with extremely strong keepers, this of course this feels super annoying. The comparison to FIFA 19 has already been made, where normal shots were extremely difficult to place in advance. Only green-timed finesse shots seem effective against the super keepers in the FIFA 22 beta.

FIFA 22: The Biggest Beta Flaws

As the name suggests, a beta is not a final version of the game. So all info is still to be taken with a grain of salt. Even if the beta would be complete garbage, it wouldn't mean that FIFA 22 is not playable.

The biggest points of criticism are quickly summarized:

  • The speed of the game is slower
  • Skills, tricks and all dribbling moves are completely nerfed
  • Goalkeepers are extremely strong, especially in the box
  • The defenders block perfectly and are generally much harder to get by

Well, we're not quite sure if the beta testers just had a lot of 99 pace sprinters in their FUT rows and therefore think that their normal players are crawling around in the pre-release version because of that.

However, it wouldn't be the first time that EA turned down the game speed a bit. You may know the (no hate) more ponderous process from PES. However, it also feels a bit more like soccer when your winger doesn't run from your own penalty area to the opponent's in like 3 seconds.

We're not worried about the apparently really good defensive players. It would be much worse to read that they don't understand anything and that every game ends 6:0 or higher.

Of course, it would be a shame if all the tricks were completely useless. But it also promotes a more realistic game - and that is in our interest.
