We took into consideration a couple of factors for our list. Of course, it is mostly based on performances over the course of the 2020/21 season. We know that EA has a tendency to please the crowds with exaggerated ratings for some players and underwhelming stats for others, so we still expect the likes of Messi and Ronaldo to be way up there.

FIFA 22 Ratings Prediction: Top 100 Players
FC Bayern Munich got some upgrades, because in FIFA 21 they were simply rated way too bad. Finally, there will be more 85-rated players for sure, but then the list would become the Top 138, which simply doesn't sound as sexy as Top 100. Yes, you will probably complain about the rating of N'Golo Kanté. But bro, if you're honest with yourself, you know that Kanté played an outstanding Champions League final, but performed only average during the season. And that's just not enough for an upgrade, unfortunately.
