EA has announced some innovations for VOLTA in FIFA 22. The mode will be expanded by party games and in general, VOLTA is turning more into FIFA Street. So if you want to play with your buddies just for fun, you could fall in love with VOLTA in FIFA 22.We really don't want to come across as haters, but the following is fact: Nobody buys FIFA because of VOLTA. But FIFA Street was celebrated at the time because it was so crazy. You did a little trick and your player went completely over the top and left his opponent in pieces. Realism? Nonexistent, but that's what was cool.VOLTA was supposed to be this mode. Street soccer with cool skills and special moves. But so far, the implementation, since the beginning of FIFA 20, was rather lame. That could change now, because VOLTA in FIFA 22 is clearly heading towards a fun mode, which could be amazingly fun together with friends.

FIFA 22: VOLTA Completely Changes Gameplay - Skillmeter and Special Abilities

Players will once again be rewarded for performing proper skill moves in VOLTA. There will be a "Skillmeter", which is a meter that fills up when you pull off fancy passes or sick tricks. When it fills up, you'll unlock goal multipliers.

The bar is divided into three sections. If you fill up the first one, your next goal will count double. If you can fill up the second, the next goal counts as x3, and if you fill up the bar completely, you'll even be rewarded with x4.But that's not all. The Gamebreaker is back! That's right, you can activate special abilities during the game. You start with a cooldown and have to wait a certain amount of time before you can activate these skills.

Powershot

As the name suggests, no one can stop this shot. Defenders and keepers won't have a chance to block your fired missile. Well, they have... but they'll be left on the ground for a while if they catch the heat. A power shot should pretty much result in a goal, if not quite like the Gamebreaker shot in FIFA Street back in the day.

High Speed

Your player will become incredibly fast, blasting past 99 speed. You can use this ability to sprint from your own penalty area to the opponent's, without a defender being able to catch up. But you can also catch up with a rushing striker to prevent a goal by him.

Super Tackle

Ram your opponents into the ground or simply tackle them away. The referee looks away for a bit, fouls are non-existent for a few moments.

So far – sounds amazing! We're up for this mode, it should be much more fun than VOLTA has been so far. But that's not all. There are new mini-games waiting for you in VOLTA Arcade.

VOLTA Arcade in FIFA 22

Arcade is supposed to be the party mode in FIFA 22. Completely new games are included here. This new feature could turn FIFA into a (popular) party game again. Both in couch co-op and online, you can simply let your mind wander and relax. Unlike in the Weekend League.

Dodgeball

In Dodgeball, teams of two compete against each other and the goal is to shoot each other down. You can dodge, duck and jump to the side. When you hit opponents, you get points. Whoever has 15 first wins.

Soccer Tennis

Two-a-side as well. A net in the middle and, like with tennis, you have to keep the ball in the field and play it skillfully to the other side. If the ball bounces twice, you lose the point. The first team to score 10 points wins.

Disco Lava

A dribble game where the goal is to show ball control. Here, you have to dribble over certain fields and claim them for yourself. Whoever has collected the most after a certain amount of time wins.

There are more of these arcade games. They all sound nice, but how often you'll actually play them remains to be seen. But, as I said, the VOLTA mode will be much more suitable for one or the other drinking game in the future. You're looking for the best FIFA content? Then stay with EarlyGame and kick it like Messi.
