The conclusion of Flashpoint Season 1 phase one could only mean one thing – new groups! The second group phase draw was conducted last night and the ping-pong balls were more than kind to us by setting up a massacre in Group C.

The Flashpoint Season 1 group of death

Depending on how you like your groups, the results of the draw might seem amazing or underwhelming. If you’re a fan of the even spread, then you might not like the fact that most of the hard hitters were stacked in the same group.

All eyes are falling on Group C. The “group of death” got Made in Brazil, Dignitas, Gen.G and Orgless together for hopefully some tense matches. With the exception of Orgless, the rest were expected to be among the favorites for the Flashpoint crown, but only mibr stood up to the bill in phase one. In fact, Orgless are in the same group with DIG for the second time and finished above them in the first one, which makes them potentially another quality addition to the makeup.

The full Flashpoint Season 1 phase two draw settled on the following spread:

Group A

  • Cloud9
  • Team Envy
  • Copenhagen Flames
  • HAVU

Group B

  • c0ntact Gaming
  • MAD lions
  • Chaos Esports Club
  • FunPlus Phoenix

Group C

  • Made in Brazil
  • Dignitas
  • Gen.G
  • Orgless

The eight participants in the playoffs will be based on points accumulated over the course of the two group stages. The standings after phase one looks like this:

  1. Made in Brazil; Cloud9; MAD Lions – 75 points
  2. Chaos Esports Club; HAVU; Orgless – 50 points
  3. Dignitas; Gen.G; c0ntact Gaming – 30 points
  4. Team Envy; Copenhagen Flames; FunPlus Phoenix – 15 points

FunPlus Phoenix are in a questionable position after the deal to acquire the Heroic squad fell through in the last moment. It is unclear whether they will continue their participation in Flashpoint Season 1 or if a replacement will be installed in their place.

Phase two begins with a couple of Group A fixtures. Copenhagen Flames will play HAVU in the first game with Cloud9 – Team Envy to follow right after.
