It has not been the easiest weekend for Fnatic, but they end it with a 2-0 record. Yet while they eventually outclassed Team Vitality, they are still far from the powerhouse their fans want to see.
After a narrow win against Misfits, Fnatic faced what should have been an easier opponent in Team Vitality. Still the French squad had already shown they could surprise an unwary opponent and Fnatic did not look their best on Friday. In fact, it would be Vitality that would get the first blood some 4 minutes into the game. Fnatic would eventually reply, but the early game remained very back and forth with the teams trading blows.
Around the 24 minute mark, Fnatic were just under 2K gold ahead when they committed to the baron. Despite Zdravets "Hylissang" Galabov’s Nautilus giving his life to delay Vitality, they made their way to the pit, secured the baron and took two more kills. Yet luckily for Fnatic, Vitality were unable to do much with the buff, especially after losing a 3:2 fight two minutes later. As the game went on, the veterans’ superior teamfighting made all the difference: 31 minutes in, Fnatic got an ace and a Baron off a key engage from Hylissang. Shortly afterwards, a pick on Aljoša "Milica" Kovandžić’s Orianna triggered a Fnatic assault that resulted in another ace for the spring finalists, allowing them to secure the game. It was a much-needed win for Fnatic, who now stand at 6:5 after their first 2:0 week in a while, but it was not a flawless victory.
