Fnatic won the ESL Pro League Season 11 phase two group which sent the Swedish team straight into the Grand Final. A victory against Natus Vincere on the final day not only guaranteed Fnatic first place in the group, but also knocked Na’Vi out of contention.
Fnatic, Astralis, mousesports survive ESL Pro League Season 11 grinder
Fnatic might have won the group, but Astralis somehow managed to steal the spotlight once more. The Danish team lost their first two games in the group and needed a number of things to fall their way in order to qualify. It is Astralis we are talking about so of course everything went according to plan. They did not lose a map vs. FaZe, OG and mousesports to propel themselves right into the top three.
Natus Vincere paid the price for the Danish success. The CIS giants’ loss to Fnatic meant they finished level on wins with Astralis and mousesports. Na’Vi received the short end of the stick due to their round differential being the worst out of the three teams. FaZe Clan beat OG in the final game of the group to record their first win in phase two.
Astralis and mousesports will face off again on Saturday, April 11, to determine who will play Fnatic in the European Grand Final. The group meeting between those two resulted in humiliation for mouz, so hopefully we’ll see a bit more of a battle in the rematch.
North America is also in action. Made in Brazil’s good recent form came undone versus countrymen FURIA. FURIA seem to have mibr’s number as they beat them for the second time in the span of a few days. The Brazilians’ opponent in the semi-final will be decided tonight in the Team Liquid – Evil Geniuses clash. Whoever loses will be fed to FURIA, the winner advances to the NA ESL Pro League Season 11 final.
