Twitter is strangely happy: Epic Games celebrates its 350 million registered players in Fortnite. You could almost forget the postponed Season 3 and other problems of the past... Almost.
We already had the worst prophecy, after the stunningly growing player numbers after the release of Epic's Battle Royale, it seemed to go only downhill from there. The Fortnite esports scene was slow to react, choosing the wrong tournament formats and being left behind by the competition - keyword: Call of Duty: Warzone.
A game under pressure
Sure, the game was still good in itself, but there was simply too little innovation from the game developers' side. Fortnite was gathering dust and seemed to wake up only just a few weeks after Call of Duty Warzone was released, Riots Shooter Valorant entered a closed beta phase. The result: Fortnite players switched to the other side.
Suddenly, Fortnite events and patches shot up like mushrooms. The Travis Scott concert, the planned Fortnite Party Royal, Helicopter In-Game were released (thanks to pressure from the chopper counterparts in Warzone) and the Daily Duo Cups were tried out as a tournament series. And that seems to have worked:

The Fortnite Problems
Besides all the jubilation, however, we do not want to forget that it has just been announced that the Fortnite World Cup 2020 will not take place. Epic has also postponed the start of Season 3, by weeks, not days, mind you. Instead of April 30th, Season 3 will now only be released on June 4th. This annoys the community, in addition to the disappointment around the canceled Fortnite World Cup 2020.
It's a good thing that the Travis Scott concert and the cheers about it almost made us forget about the extension of Season 2. Now the World Cup is canceled and the Fortnite Party Royal is announced at the same time. At least Epic Games knows how to neutralize bad news with good news.
