It was expected that Fortnite would get drivable cars with the last patch, but SURPRISE! The cars will not come into play for a few more weeks. Did we expect anything else?
It's the surprise of the day: The release of the car into Fortnite is delayed... Just a little joke, we're used to the fact that Epic will have delays of all upcoming features. Don't expect to be able to drive cars in Fortnite soon. Even if some leakers previously suspected that the cars would come into play with patch 13.30 and the challenge of refuelling a car at Catty Corner would point to the cars, we now seem to be disappointed once again. Because on Twitter Epic announced that it would be a few more weeks before cars would be added to the game. And in a very ironic way:

Epic Games' Statement About the Cars
The new vehicles were shown in the trailer for Chapter 2, Season 3 at the beginning of the season, but it was said that they will only come into play when the water level drops. Now on the map the mentioned water is hardly available and still, every trace of the cars is missing. There are already other drivable vehicles in the game, like helicopters and boats, but the fans of the Battle Royale game were looking forward to the cars so much, that you can understand the anger and annoyance about this big delay.
Epic's statement about the delay doesn't make it any better. Instead of being open about their mistake, they provide a rather unfunny excuse for delaying the cars.
Our lawyers are currently sweating the policy details and fixing typos like 'otter coverage' instead of auto coverage. Due to this, many vehicles got taken for inspection. Expect a few weeks until we're road ready.

Great, Epic. That's the kind of thing we want to read. What the real reason for the postponement is, we don't know. What we do know is that a multi-million dollar company with thousands of employees is unable to keep to its own deadlines or plans. But hey that's Epic Games for ya lately.
Oh, by the way, the challenge we were talking about before - filling up a car at Catty Corner - was taken out of the game (yet another sign cars won't be coming soon). We're already over halfway through Season 3 and it should be coming to an end soon.
