The Fortnitemares update is expected to go live sometime next week and some interesting details have already been revealed. Will we really be able to ride broomsticks and collect sweets in Fortnite?
Ever dreamt of playing quidditch? Riding on a Nimbus 3000 and catching that bloody snitch? Sure, you did. While the snitch-catching part will most likely remain just a dream, riding broomsticks is going to become very real for Fortnite players.
The Battle Royale has been preparing for Halloween for a few days by releasing a series of older Halloween skin packs. We will also probably have a new means of transportation suitable to the theme of the holiday if leaks are correct.
HYPEX revealed on Twitter that the game contains a code for a "Wbroom" consumable and a lootbox called "Broom Box". As with all leaks, these should be treated with caution, but HYPEX has proven to be quite reliable in the past. So let's have a look at what the codes mean exactly.
Flying Brooms and Other Spooky Items
The code suggests that players can collect witch brooms from boxes found on Fortnite map.
We might get Brooms as mobility in this fortnitemares..there's a consumable codename called "Wbroom" and a loot box calles "Broom Box"

Although conventional witch wisdom dictates that fighters can take to the skies with these brooms, this has yet to be confirmed. Given Fortnite's history with flight-based items like the airplane and helicopter, it's obviously not an absurd idea to let players fly. But who knows, maybe the broom will come into play as an alienated, deadly weapon...
While the concept of flying around on brooms is exciting enough in itself, there are apparently other consumables that are supposed to come to Fortnite. In another tweet, HYPEX lists the following items in addition to the Wbroom:
- Candy Corn
- Jelly Beans
- Thermal Taffy
- Hop Drop
- Pepper Ming
Upcoming consumables:- Wbroom- Pepper Ming- Hop Drop- Candy Corn- Jelly Bean- Thermal Taffy

Their uses are not yet known, but we expect that this candy will provide short-term benefits, similar to the fish or fruit in Fortnite. To get them, there are candy boxes on the Fortnite map. It is possible that you have to destroy them to get candy. It's guesswork right now, but we should find out all about the candy shop when the Fortnite event arrives officially.
These Candy Buckets will be used in Fortnitemares to give these consumables (Pepper Ming, Hop Drop, Candy Corn, Jelly Bean, Thermal Taffy), also the sound you hear in the vid is the sound when you eat the Candy Corn consumable. pic.twitter.com/tpFy9af3Tw

It's not clear when any of these items will be included in the game, but October is halfway through and Halloween is drawing closer. Fortnitemares is an annual event, so it is only a matter of time before an official announcement is made. The event usually starts in the last week of October, which means we'll have to remain patient for a few more days.
Regarding FortnitemaresIn the past, Fortnitemares has always started the last week of October, and usually always started on an update, because of this I would expect Fortnitemares 2020 Update to happen on the 27th/28th|October 29, 2019October 24, 2018October 26, 2017

While Epic Games has reported about the Fortnitemares event rather tacitly so far, you can find numerous skin packs with Halloween themes in the Item Shop at this very moment. The Muertos Set, the Ultimate Reckoning pack, the Final Reckoning pack, and the Dead Ball Set are currently available and offer players some spooky options for the Halloween season.
