Yes, Fortnite’s future includes the next-gen consoles – and soon, it will also include the Unreal Engine 5.

New gaming powerhouses on the horizon

With new information pointing towards the upcoming Sony Playstation 5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series X coming around the end of the year, one of the biggest questions any self-respecting gamer would have is what games are available for them.

Impressive as the hardware specs are, it is the software that many of us are most interested with. Naturally, Fortnite publisher Epic Games wasted little time to let us know that yes, Fortnite will be available at launch.

What we can expect

That was only to be expected – a huge reason for Fortnite’s popularity is that it is available on so many platforms – but there is more to Epic’s post than just a compatibility confirmation, as the article on the Fortnite page reveals. Yes, this is the same Fortnite that everyone else will be playing, right down to cross-platform play (thankfully, we don’t have to wage that battle again) and profile compatibility.

Epic also stated that while the game will be using Unreal Engine 4 when the consoles come out, it will transition to the recently announced Unreal Engine 5. The change will likely be coming to the PC version as well. The publisher confirmed that all current platforms will be supported in the future as well, and to stay tuned for more details in the future.

Sounds like Epic wants to rule the roost on the new consoles as well and have plenty of surprises for this year. In the meantime, don’t forget to check our Fortnite page for even more spicy content.
