Fortnite players trying to get a glimpse of a galaxy far far away reported being unable to login ahead of the “doors open” time for the event.

Many players who wanted to log in on Saturday to attend the special Star Wars live event just days ahead of Rise of Skywalker’s release, were up for a bad surprise. The highly anticipated reveal was marred by technical issues and some of Epic Games’ servers apparently succumbed to the mass influx of Star Wars fans.

A lot of users went on social media to complain about being unable to log into the game. It appears that the fiasco was not a complete server meltdown, because many streamers were still in and playing and some users reported having no issues.

As reports of login trouble began to surface on Twitter around half an hour before the “doors open” time for the event, Epic Games decided to officially postpone the special by 10 minutes, and in reality, the event kicked off about 15 to 20 minutes late.

Epic Games acknowledged the issues in a tweet:

Technical glitches during special events have happened in the past. Last time, it was in October, at the end of the game’s Season 10, when the whole island imploded in a black hole only to be followed by the game’s servers doing the same.

The game’s lucky fans, who were able to sign in during the live event were treated to an exclusive clip from the upcoming movie in which Ray pulls mind tricks on Stormtroopers.

Did you manage to witness the Star Wars event this weekend? How did you like it? Let us know and stay tuned for more from the exciting and hopefully more glitch-free world of Fortnite.
