Best Shotguns In Fortnite

Carrying the right tool for the job in Fortnite is key to earning Victory Royales, especially during the latter stages of a match when there's not a lot of room to strategize.

Early on, a sniper rifle is perfect for long-ranged enemies and avoiding direct confrontations that might get you in trouble. But as the match progresses and the playable area gets smaller, you might want to ditch that for something a little bit more appropriate, like a shotgun.

Chapter 3 Season 3 offers a small variety of these long-barreled firearms, however, they are very sought after by players looking to cover all bases, since they are very reliable when things get extremely personal.

Not all shotguns work the same, obviously, some excel at different things: rate of fire, DPS, reload time, etc. Depending on your playstyle, you might prefer one over the other; having said that, we've taken the liberty to rank the shotguns we think are the best in the game currently.

What Is The Best Shotgun In Fortnite?

As we mentioned earlier, Chapter 3, Season 4 features a small selection of shotguns. There are four different ones in total. They all work very differently and despite the small number, each of them has its own uses. And one more thing: In order to make a comparison possible, we have chosen the values of the epic versions.

1. Lever Action Shotgun

In our eyes, the lever-action shotgun is the best shotgun. At least if you know how to use it. I©Epic Games

This shotgun really packs a punch! The lever action shotgun was first added in Chapter 2, Season 5. It has a medium spread that can be narrowed by targeting. Especially the higher rarity levels are very strong: the lever shotgun does 10.4-12.7 damage - per shot. Since it shoots 9 bullets, you can deal up to 109 damage with one shot of the Epic variant of the Shotgun. She also has a headshot multiplier of 1.5x.

And with a magazine size of 6, it doesn't matter if you miss. Just keep in mind that you'll need to reload between shots, which could take you a bit of time. However, the lever-action shotgun is definitely our top pick this season.

2.-Ranger Shotgun

The Ranger Shotgun is back, too! This weapon was first introduced in Chapter 3, Season 2. It offers more effectiveness at longer ranges than most shotguns. Fair warning: The weapon is extremely good, but only suitable for players with high marksmanship, since it can only be loaded with one cartridge. That means if you miss, you're helpless at first. On the other hand, if you hit, then your opponent will be so damaged that you can probably even send them to the afterlife afterwards with the pickaxe.

On a precise body shot, the epic version deals 127.8 damage. It also has a headshot multiplier of 1.5x and a maximum damage cap of 165. Sounds pretty tasty, doesn't it?

3.-EvoChrome Shotgun

The appearance of Chrome created the EvoChrome Shotgun and EvoChrome Burst Rifle. You can only find these weapons in chrome chests. The important thing here is to properly inflict damage on your opponents, because the special feature is that the weapon evolves the more damage you cause with it. The highest rarity it can evolve to is Mythic. And then it really goes BOOM!

The problem with the gun is that it has great horizontal dispersion but no vertical dispersion. This means the weapon has a very wide spread, making it harder to sink all the bullets in your opponent's head. Each evolution increases the weapon's stats and decreases the spread, but to get to that point, you have to fight with the weapon beforehand.

4.-Prime Shotgun

Last on our list is the Prime Shotgun. The weapon was introduced in Chapter 3, Season 3 and sounded incredibly good in theory. A four-round weapon that functions like the automatic shotgun. The interesting thing about this weapon is that it deals 50% more damage on the first shot. In reality, though, the first-shot shotgun is a terrible mess. In order to really do damage, you would have to reload immediately after the first shot, since all shots that come after that are simply completely useless and do no damage. But who has the time for that in a red hot building fight? So yeah, if you're accurate and can hit the head with an epic variant or higher, it's good. But for all "normal" players we simply cannot recommend this weapon. So there you have it! We hope this small guide can help you make better decisions when looting on the Fortnite island.
