There is a Fortnite Winter Event every year! In fact, Epic Games have taken quite some time in 2020, but it seems that the wait will soon be over. So what should we expect?
This year, winter looks a little different in the world of Fortnite. While previous years have brought us Winterfest (formerly known as 14 Days of Fortnite), it seems like Epic Games are taking a slightly different approach this year.
This year's festive-themed event has been announced as Operation: Snowdown, and while it's expected to be similar to the typical Winterfest with daily challenges and rewards, other aspects are rather vague. We've got everything you need to know.

What Is Operation Snowdown?
Operation: Snowdown seems to be the name of this year's festive in-game event.
"Winter is approaching this week," read the unofficial patch notes for update 15.10.
On the island, there will be missions from Snowmando, ice-cold items and new as well as proven LTMs that you definitely shouldn't miss. Complete all Operation: Snowdown missions and earn lots of cool cosmetic items, including two exclusive outfits.
In fact, the event just seems to be another typical in-game event of Fortnite, as we already know it anyway. We remember last year when we got an additional lobby, the "Winterfest Cabin" in the game, where we could open a package every day in the period around Christmas. Well, it probably won't be that nice this year.
How to Get the Snowmando Outfit?
Thanks to the challenges we will get two free Fortnite skins again this year. The big prize this time is the Snowmando outfit, a bizarre mashup between a snowman and the Mandalorian, the Star Wars bounty hunter that has been the focus of this season so far.
It replaces Mando's trademark helmet with the head of a snowman to create a character that is - according to the game description - "holly", "jolly" and "ready to rumble".
To get the skin, you'll need to complete nine of the 16 free Operation: Snowdown challenges. The other exclusive outfit is the Frost Squad skin, a wintery-looking skin that is unlocked by completing 12 of the 16 new challenges.
What Are the Operation Snowdown Challenges?
Even though the challenges have not been released yet, the leakers have spared no time in searching for the files. In the process, they found the complete list of Operation: Snowdown challenges and rewards. You can see them in the Twitter post below:

When Does Operation Snowdown Start?
Apparently, you won't have to wait much longer for the upcoming challenges. Last year, Winterfest started exactly on December 18, and according to some leakers, it seems that today, December 18, 2020, the event will also start around 3 pm.
The map has already been partially covered with snow and we know that planes will come to Fortnite again. What and still to expect simply remains to be seen.
