Epic Games might just be planning for a new PvE Survival mode in Fortnite. Some files were found with patch 16.40 that refer to "Daybreak". This leads us to believe that we will soon be fighting for survival on a stranded island and it might be coming with Season 7!
We've already seen a glimpse of Daybreak as the survival mode has been leaked in previous patches and in internal documents released as part of the ongoing Apple v. Epic lawsuit. With Patch 16.40, a new leak has surfaced in the files! Another hint at the upcoming PvE Mode that may be added to the game.
How sweet would it be if some kind of PvE MMO mode existed in Fortnite? A Fortniter can only DREAM! However, we are checking our expectations at the door because this is probably just some kind of zombie survival deal.
What is Known About Fortnite's PvE Survival Mode Daybreak?
The latest Fortnite update contains hints of an open-world mode that was previously teased by Hypex earlier this month. According to the leaks, Daybreak takes place on a completely different map than the Battle Royale Island and involves hunting monsters, looting, and crafting items. The goal is to escape with other players by repairing a helicopter before the third night of the game, or you get devoured by wild animals who craft you into digestive materials!
According to Epic Games' Stipulated Exhibits Documents, the map that i tweeted about a week ago is apparently for an Open World Simulation Sandbox Mode! pic.twitter.com/pS0uKbocTQ

Here we got what we think is a leaked description of Daybreak:
You wake up alone and unarmed along the coast of an island, with no memory of how you arrived. Quickly search for weapons and ammunition before night falls and creatures begin to roam the hillsides, hunting for prey. Keep an eye out for other stranded people they may prove to be invaluable allies in your fight to stay alive on the increasingly hostile island."Along the way, search for parts that can be used to repair one of the downed helicopters that are near the island's center. If you find the correct parts and have enough fuel, you may be able to complete the Impossible Escape! NOTE: Players loading in with a squad will be separated. Search for your friends or other players on the island and form a new squad! ... Repair a choppa to escape the island before the storm closes in on the third night.
This isn't the first PvE mode in Fortnite. There was a PvE boss battle that came out for the Halloween event where you and your squad had to take down a giant monster. But Daybreak sounds like a completely new, more unique, and much bigger experience than a single boss encounter.
Of course, none of this has been confirmed by any of Epic's official channels. But if the leaks are true, this mode could be coming to Fortnite as soon as Season 7!
