With Season 5, many exotic weapons came to Fortnite. And although the weapons have not been in the game for long, the first one has already been removed. The only question is: why?
Epic Games has announced that Fortnite's Storm Scout Sniper Rifle will no longer be present in competitive Fortnite. A specific reason for the weapon's removal was not given by the game's developer, but community feedback apparently played a role in the decision.
The Storm Scout Sniper Rifle Has Been Removed by Epic
The official Fortnite Status Twitter account tweeted:
Forecast: 0% chance of Storm Scout. We've disabled the Storm Scout Sniper Rifle from competitive playlists. Thanks to the community for providing feedback!

Some Fortnite fans speculate that the removal of the weapon has to do with the way the Storm Scout Sniper Rifle can track storms in the game. Even in the fifth season of Fortnite, the eye of the storm is unpredictable. With Lexa's storm scout, you'll see exactly where the next zone will be. This will give you an extreme tactical advantage over your opponents.
I forgot to post this last night. The Storm Scout sniper rifle that you can get from Lexa the anime girl is so good. I'm not a great sniper by any means but sometimes I get decent shot like these. It can be very satisfying, not going to lie. @emSmilie7 @BladeMaster2977 pic.twitter.com/OFt5vRRKwW

It is possible that some players felt that this gave them an unfair advantage and lobbied Epic Games to remove the feature. Until the developer provides more information, it's hard to say if that's the exact reason behind the decision. For now, players will just have to speculate and change their preferred sniper rifle if necessary.
apparently the tracking future storm thing is too op in endgame

It's not uncommon for Epic Games to remove certain weapons from competitive playlists. In October, the Witch's Broom was removed in a similar fashion. While fans aren't always happy with the reasoning, the developer has never been shy about making these types of decisions. Just the other day, even the popular superhero skins were removed from competitive Fortnite, as many players called them pay-to-win skins. Of course, it's possible that Epic Games will reverse its decision if fan feedback is negative.
It remains to be seen what impact the removal of the Storm Scout Sniper Rifle will have on competitive play. However, the majority of players, seem to be very happy with this move by Epic.
