A new Fortnite rumor says that the popular Battle Royale title will soon welcome one of the most popular video game characters of all time to the island, so keep an eye on the Item Shop! This new character is Doom Slayer from Bethesda's DOOM franchise. But what is the truth behind this rumor? Here come all the details.

Who Is The Doom Slayer?

First, to explain who this strange guy even is: the Doom Slayer is the protagonist and playable character of the popular video games Doom, Doom II: Hell on Earth, Doom 64, Doom (2016), and Doom Eternal. He has also made guest appearances in different Quake games such as Quake Champions and Quake III Arena.

He's said to be the latest iteration and continuation of the classic DOOM Marine, who makes up most of the series' protagonist. Now, he's apparently coming to Fortnite as a playable skin!

Is The Doom Slayer Coming To Fortnite?

While no exact details have been revealed about a Doom Slayer skin, it is said to be one of many skins associated with Xbox and their game that will appear in Fortnite in the future.

The source for this new Fortnite rumor about the Doom Slayer comes from the XboxEra podcast. On the latest episode of the show, host Nick Baker revealed that Xbox is looking to work with Fortnite in the future. While Baker didn't reveal what potential Xbox-related skins might be coming to the game, he did specifically say that the Doom Slayer is one of them. Baker went on to say that he's not sure when this skin might actually appear in Fortnite because it will likely require certain licensing agreements, but he believes it will happen sometime in the future.

Additionally, Doom 64 is now available for free on the Epic Games Store until August 25th. Fall Guys just got a Doom skin and a few months ago even Epic themselves accidentally leaked a Doom collab for Fortnite.

Considering how many well-known video game characters have come to Fortnite in recent years, including Master Chief, Psycho Bandit, and Kratos, among others, the arrival of Doom Slayer doesn't seem that far-fetched.

Not to mention that Xbox now owns the rights to the character and has already shown that they are willing to work with Epic Games when it comes to Fortnite. So it's very likely that the two companies will continue to work together over time.
