Mysterious sinkholes have appeared on the island of Fortnite Chapter 3, which have swallowed entire buildings. What exactly happened here? We have the details.
Something strange is taking place in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 1. The IO is drilling tunnels underground, and we still don't know exactly what's going on. But now it seems that the first major change on the map has appeared. What has changed, exactly? Well, an entire building has now been swallowed up leaving behind a trail of devastation in its wake. So what the frick is going on?!
Where Is The Sinkhole Located In Fortnite Chapter 3?
Back on February 22, strange noises were heard near the sunken building. It sounded like a loud engine working underground. Later, cracks formed both on the house and in the surrounding area, which already indicated the fate of the POI.
At the end of last week, on February 24, things began to escalate. Where there used to be a small café, is now a large hole in the ground for curious players to explore. The location is west of Tilted Towers and north of Greasy Grove on the left side of the river by the side of the road.
In fact, in the place where the building was, there is not only a lot of rubble and ruins, but still a handful of chests and even some slurp barrels and a slurp truck. In addition, there is a reboot bus in the middle of the crater that can bring your teammates back into the fight.
Second Sinkhole Appeared in Fortnite
The small café wasn't the last building to be swallowed by a sinkhole. The second earthquake followed the same pattern and destroyed another Fortnite landmark. The second sinkhole is now a POI that serves as a good landing spot for solos. Here is where you can find it:
You can find the second sinkhole right where the red house was in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 1. It is right between Tilted Towers and the large gas station located near the center of the map. The house is now gone obviously, but the location can still serve as a viable loot-spot. Up to four chests can spawn in the sinkhole, sometimes even rare ones.
The Final Sinkhole in Fortnite
On March 13 the final sinkhole appeared in Fortnite. It is located northeast of Tilted Towers right by Loot Lake where Seven Outpost VI once stood.
The platform and its rifts are still there luckily, the building that it belonged to is gone for good, though. Still, there's plenty of chests to be looted so this POI isn't useless whatsoever.
The IO has been tinkering around in secret for a while now, so something big could be in the works in the next few days. Epic Games has a history of adding subtle changes and bread crumbs to the current season's storyline that provide clues to how the island will change. Players are afraid that the IO might destroy Tilted Towers again and many believe that war is coming.
Head to the former location of the café to track down more clues that the IO might have left behind. As Chapter 3, Season 1 is slowly coming to its end, the mysterious drill sites could set the stage for the next season.
