FunPlus Phoenix are entering the CS:GO scene with the signing of the Heroic roster. This move was a badly kept secret these past few days but now it has been made official by the Chinese organization.
FunPlus Phoenix go all-in on Denmark
FunPlus Phoenix is one of the most successful organizations in League of Legends history. It’s only fitting that upon entering the professional Counter-Strike scene, the org would dive into the most talent-stacked region the game currently has on offer – Denmark.
Home to four-time Major champions Astralis, Denmark has produced multiple other top 10-15 teams the past couple of years. FPP bought on the hype and decided to splash the cash on a Danish roster of their own, which, in fact, is currently located just inside the world’s top 15.
The Heroic squad that FunPlus Phoenix acquired is:
- Casper “cadiaN” Møller
- Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer
- Patrick “es3tag” Hansen
- Johannes “b0RUP” Borup
- Martin “stavn” Lund
Though the organization is surely hoping for much more to come from this lineup in the future, they were not off to a dream start. As the official announcement of the deal dropped just hours before FunPlus Phoenix’ opening match in the Flashpoint league, cadiaN and co. had the chance to make an immediate impression.
Cloud9 chose not to play along with the script, however, and handed the Danes their first defeat under the FPP brand. With their position in Season 1 of Flashpoint in question, the newcomers will have to make amends quick or risk the doubters climbing all over FunPlus Pheonix’ roster of choice.
CadiaN will lead his men into battle again on Thursday, March 19, against Pujan “FNS” Mehta’s Orgless.
There still aren’t any serious suggestions as to what Heroic’s next move might be.
