In the recent state of play for HBO’s The Last of Us, it has been revealed that the production start for season 2 will be delayed. This is apparently due to Pedro Pascal's tight filming schedule. Being one of the most popular actors in 2023 seems to come with a lot of work too.

After The Last of Us came out on HBO at the start of this year, Pedro Pascal has been working on upcoming projects like Freaky Tales, Gladiator 2, and Drive-Away Dolls. This man is indeed very busy, and his work on other project is now tying into the much anticipated season 2 for The Last of Us.
Originally, it was planned to start filming for season 2 in early 2024 – on January 7. But due to these overlapping projects in Pedro's schedule, it will be delayed to a later time this year.
At first, we thought that The Last of Us 2 might be released in summer 2025, but considering the delay, we assume to expect it to release in late 2025 or beginning of 2026.
