Riot is making some changes to LoL ranked prerequisites in the future. But before then, the dev team has a PSA for all of its players.

New League of Legends players have to wait until they are level 30 to be able to start playing ranked games and challenging themselves. For the longest time, though, the community has stated that this is not enough and more needs to be done to ensure a decent ranked environment.

It seems like Riot is going to be making some changes in the future to ensure a better ranked experience for everyone. Riot Phroxzon, Lead Gameplay Designer, has hinted at some changes on his Twitter/X recently.

In a recent Tweet, Phroxzon told players that they should play some normal games before they start playing ranked. He explained that for brand-new accounts that have just reached level 30, playing normal games before ranked will ensure that you can be placed correctly.

Just playing against bots or ARAM does not give players the same amount of experience as playing against real people, hence why playing normal games or Quick Play will give these players some experience in real game situations beforehand already.

He also added on that the team is currently looking into making normals a prerequisite before playing ranked, but this would not be something Riot will implement right away, instead it would be for the future of the game.

Other players have also asked whether Riot is ever going to consider making champion mastery a requirement for certain champions and picks in solo queue, but Riot, as well as a large portion of the community, are against this idea, since it will be far too restricting.

But it seems like Riot is going to look into making some changes for the ranked prerequisites and that is a step in the right direction to ensure a better ranked environment.
