Meiko is one of the most well known League of Legends Pro Players from the chinese LPL League. He has played for Team Edward Gaming since 2014 and has now left the organization. Let's have a little look at his career so far and what his future could look like.
Tian “Meiko” Ye was the support player for Team Edward Gaming for the last 9 years. He joined the organization in 2014. Meiko was the team main leader and shot caller.
League of Legends Pro Player Meiko Left EDward Gaming
Meiko had a very impressive start on EDG in 2015 where he won the LPL in the Summer and in the Regional Finals. He would also win the Summer Finals in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, he won neither Summer nor Spring but has won the Regional Finals at the end. In the next 2 years nothing impressive happened as they wouldn't win another final till 2021.
2021 was Meikos best year overall. They finished third place in spring, won LPL in summer and even managed to beat Damwon Gaming at the 2021 Worlds Finals where they won the whole tournament. EDG has won the LPL Regional Finals in 2022 after that, but since then hasn't had much success. This might be the reason Meiko has been looking for something else.
Meiko has joined TOP Esports for 2024. The team already has some excellent players on it, including JackeyLove and 369. Maybe Meiko is looking for some success with new players. It's definitely sad to see such an established player-team connection crumble, but in the end it's all about the success that neither Meiko nor EDG were having. It's in his best interest to look for a better team, and I personally think he has found that in TOP Esports.
