Big in Japan
Fan-favorite Platinum games who specialize in the character action genre confirmed they are working on Bayonetta 3. The third installment in the series will be unlike anything the studio has done before.
Chinese juggernaut Tencent acquired a 20% stake in Japanese studio Marvelous of Story of Seasons, Daemon X Machina, and Senran Kangura fame. This comes right on the heels of the announcement of their Western AAA studio, showing that the Chinese are aiming at nothing short of world domination.
Sports
EA and the NFL are to extend their partnership to 2025. If a certain revenue expectation is met, this might even include the upcoming 2021 season. This comes right after the NFL’s partnership with 2K to produce multiple non-simulation American football games.
Formula E driver Daniel Abt was disqualified after caught cheating in a “Race At Home Challenge” in support of UNICEF. The offending athlete is required to donate €10,000 to charity as punishment.
Steam
The three most popular Quantix Dream titles, Detroit: Become Human, Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain are finally coming to Steam on June 18th. That means they will no longer remain exclusive to the Epic Store on the PC platform.
Investigative gamers found lines of code in the latest Steam update suggesting that Valve might be experimenting with cloud gaming. Does this mean the end of Stadia?
Something in, something out
And speaking of code, the controversial Denouvo Anti-Cheat has been removed from Doom Eternal but added to Metro: Exodus, managing to make gamers happy, right before getting them angry again.
GeForce Now will only include opted-in games from now on. Developers who don’t sign up for Nvidia’s program by May 31 will have their titles removed.
