Industry Intel is back! The series where EarlyGame brings you up to speed on all major business news from the week is here. This time we were delighted by a bunch of crazy gaming industry news, some of which aren’t even official. Let’s dive in!
Next-Gen Xbox Finally Unveils Price
And there we have it, the long-awaited reveal for Microsoft’s next console generation. Even though some analyzers expected the machine to cost somewhat less, the final numbers are here: the smaller Xbox Series S will come at $299, and the flagship Xbox Series X will cost $499. There’s also a subscription-based service featuring a console and 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $24.99 and $34.99, respectively.
The console looks promising and, as we reported earlier, even Steam Boss Gabe Newell thinks it’s the better machine.
Tons of Ubisoft News
Following the Xbox news, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be released alongside the Microsoft console - the release date is shifted from November 17 to November 10. Hopefully, one less week of polish won’t affect any of the game’s many features.
Immortals: Fenyx Rising, and Scot Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game are in the works and will be hitting PC, Switch, Stadia, and consoles this December. Additionally, the golden classic Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is getting a remake and coming out on January 21, 2021. All of this was announced at the Ubisoft Forward digital event.
Lastly, the ill-fated pirate game Skull & Bones that seems to be canceled and re-commissioned every year is confirmed to be in the works again and taking a brand-new direction. More details will be shared next year.

Something Bad, Something Good
To close off the segment, we’ve got some bad and some good news.
Bad - Lab Zero Games of Skullgirls fame has laid off its staff. Last month, many employees quit in protest of alleged misconduct by the company’s owner Mike Zaimont. We now know that the 11 remaining developers have been let go. Zaimont is reportedly looking for new funding opportunities to save the company.
Good - CD Projekt Red is confident that Cyberpunk 2077 will be nailing its November release date. They are confident that no more delays will keep the fans from arguably the most anticipated video game in years.
