A birthday present? That’s one way to put it. Former Counter Logic Gaming and Team Liquid AWPer Josh “jdm64” Marzano announced on his 30th birthday that he is officially retired from playing competitive CS:GO and, like many of his North American peers, make the switch to Riot Games’ new first-person shooter Valorant.
jdm64 adds to the Valorant numbers
It’s hardly news by now, but yet another prominent North American CS:GO player has called it quits in order to join the Valorant hype train. At that tempo, there won’t be NA CS at all in a few months and I’m not entirely sure if that’s a bad thing.

All jokes aside, jdm64 went to Twitter to announce his retirement from the game he had played for two decades. Curiously, he picked his 30th birthday to drop the news, which could be viewed as a mix of a birthday present and an “entering my 30s” resolution.
Today I turn 30. Been playing CS for about 18 to 20 years now and I've decided it's time for a new chapter. I'm making the switch to compete in @PlayVALORANT and am looking for a team/org to represent. Let's get creative and build something to remember. Feel Free to DM me

The AWPer hasn’t been particularly active on the competitive scene since getting kicked from Liquid in February 2018, with just seven months on the Envy roster on his resumé since then. It’s been exactly a year since his time with Envy came to a close, which makes his decision easily understandable.
He may be leaving the beloved shooter, but jdm64 is not ready to hang up his mouse yet. As many before him, jdm64 will try his luck with the new trendy 5v5 shooter Valorant. In his brief statement, he expressed a desire to find an organization to represent in Valorant. With many former CS:GOers also searching for a Valorant org, this might be harder than jdm64 anticipates.
