Overwatch releases a very special celebratory Doomfist skin to honor Overwatch League Season 2 champions San Francisco Shock.
Right on the heels of the Archives 2020 event, Blizzard keeps the Overwatch skins coming. Did you catch this tweet from the official Overwatch League account, promising to “Shock the World”?

Unlike other skins for Overwatch skins, this one carries way more weight and sentiment for esports fans, as it is solely dedicated to the champs of last year’s OWL. In fact, three of them - Grant “Moth” Espe, Jay “Sinatraa” Won, and Matthew “Super” DeLisi were involved in the process! Due to the extraordinary nature of the occasion, we had the rare delight of hearing about the creative process from Blizzard Senior Concept Artist David Kang, who said:
“The biggest inspiration for this skin was to create some kind of supernatural, elemental being, with a theme of volcanic chaos. He’s molten lava inside a rock body, and we added a bit of championship feel with some gold and obsidian for his gauntlet.”
In addition, the Anaheim game studio released a cool promo video showcasing the skin in its glory and interviewing the champions from Shock themselves.
Molten lava, mysterious otherworldly monster, and gold worthy of a champion? Color us impressed!
If you’d like to wield the molten creature with obsidian-and-gold gauntlet into battle, it’s not late. The skin is available until April 9. For more Overwatch, stay right here at EarlyGame!
