Misfits got their first 2-0 week of the summer with a well-deserved victory. The team outclassed Excel and a great Kai’sa performance from Kasper "Kobbe" Kobberup gave their fans what they wanted to see.

After a poor first week, Misfits Gaming seemed to be picking up steam and was expected to triumph against Excel Esports. However, the team coached by Joey "YoungBuck" Steltenpool had shown they could be full of surprises.

A good start for Misfits

Misfits had the better start of the game, taking the first blood with a mid-lane gank by Iván "Razork" Martín Díaz just before the 5-minute mark. Several minutes later they won another fight where they turned a catch on their support and got two more kills. Fabian "FEBIVEN" Diepstraten was the unsung hero as he interrupted a Twisted Fate ultimate that could have turned the fight in Excel's favor.

Misfits slowly started accumulating a gold lead but they really took over the game when they secured an early Baron, preventing the enemy jungler from coming in with a key Sett ultimate, and then won the ensuing fight. Excel found no way to prevent their opponents from taking what they wanted on the map and faced a team with Baron buff, a gold lead and an ocean soul.

Sometimes, a fed carry isn't enough

Patrik "Patrik" Jírů’s Kog’Maw was starting to ramp up, but it was too late – 27 minutes in, Misfits took a second baron and it was enough for them to push in the enemy base, win the decisive teamfight and close out the game.

Excel had their moments in the game but Misfits were able to contain them and force an early-game pressure that let them close out the game before the Kog’Maw became too big. Kobbe on Kai’sa had another good performance, showing that the team did well to pick him from TSM. With this, they end the week at 4-3, while Excel take the sole ninth place with a 2:5 record.
