Riot Games finally released the official date of League of Legends' long-awaited Clash.
With delay after delay since its first initial beta release in 2018, players will finally be able to create their own meme dream team and battle against other teams for a slew of in-game prizes.
Confirmed in a Tweet by Riot Games, Clash will officially start on Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 23:

What is League of Legends Clash
League of Legends Clash is an upcoming competitive team-based tournament system that will reward players for organizational play. The official beta for League of Legends Clash was released by Riot Games way back in December 2017 on the European servers and was set to officially release for May 2018. However, due to bugs, frequent crashes and some development and security issues, it was delayed for over a year with almost no discussions from Riot Games on the matter. All they said was that it needed a lot of maintenance.
With these fixes now (hopefully) implemented, we should see a much healthier and more stable system.
What can we expect
Well, dear reader, we can hope that it won't be crashing anymore. As expected, the player base was quick to remind Riot Games of those buggy times:
Many players (myself included) were naturally very excited about the announcement:
Closing thoughts
As a player who was thrilled to see this implementation back in 2017, I am happy Riot Games decided to give it the time it needed in order to make sure things were fixed. Naturally, I do anticipate server load issues when Clash finally arrives, but those are usually normal and quite natural when it comes to the usual patches, updates, etc.
I for one am looking forward to creating my own team. I will finally have a small idea of what it would be like to own an esports team, but, you know, without needing to spend millions on everything. If you need a reminder of what Clash actually is, or for all you new players out there, I’ve got you covered:
