League of Legends fans is in for a pool party in patch 10.13, with brand new skins for Syndra, Orianna, and much more! Where there are buffs, there are nerfs, so let's dive into these patch notes and discuss some of the most notable changes for patch 10.13.

You can expect the Pool Party skins to drop in 10.13! What is your favorite from this year? We personally like Orianna's, as you'd never expect a robot in the water.

Patch 10.13 saw a lot of champions positively changed, which were:

  • Gnar
  • Kog'Maw
  • Lucian
  • Nocturne
  • Nunu
  • Rakan
  • Ryze
  • Vi
  • Yorick

Let us discuss some notable changes.

"Carefully nudging Mini Gnar in the right direction. We think his attack speed is a safe lever to bring up since he’s been struggling with a much wider range of fighter matchups"

Riot Games finally takes pity on Gnar in Patch 10.13 who, as of late, has been struggling to deal with a certain someone in the top lane that we mention later. Gnar's E, Hop, has seen an early attack speed increase from 20/30/40/50/60% to 40/45/50/55/60%, which only means one thing. More aggression.

EarlyGame tip: When playing Gnar, always take your Q, Boomerang first. You're prone to dying early, as you lack the tank stats you pick up later on in the game, so getting Q first, followed by W, Hyper, and then maxing Q and E, Hop, for patch 10.13, means more attack speed, more damage. If you ensure you pick up Frozen Mallet, you're going to have a fun time in Summoner's Rift. Smash some lanes, Gnar.

"Even with the specific marksman buffs he received earlier, Lucian’s been in a weak spot in the bot lane, mainly due to the fact that he’s often outranged by his enemies. Buffing his ability range so that he can dash back to the path of vengeance."

Lucian's Q, Piercing Light, has seen an increase of range from 900 to 1000. What does this mean? Mre dueling potential. Lucian is an EarlyGame power-house, but later in the game. He's usually taken advantage of by Marksman, who has that extra ranged edge on this light-slinger.

EarlyGame tip: With this additional range increase for 10.13, abuse the EarlyGame! Lucian wins lane if you are bullying your opponents, and with this range increase, you have no excuse! Make sure you use his abilities and kit with each other well, don't over-extend and keep warding! Looking at you, Marksman.

"Just like with Kog’Maw, we’re throwing the boy and his yeti some ability power to empower their alternative builds. This way to adventure! (Willump noises)"

While small, this change for Nunu is a welcome one. With additional ability power added to his Q, consume, Nunu will have more chances to take different build routes within the game.

Q - Consume:

  • DAMAGE RATIO:0.5 ability power to0.65 ability power
  • HEALING RATIO:0.7 ability power to0.9 ability power

His ultimate, Absolute Zero, had an increase in bonus health and an additional ability power increase. Nunu remains very strong at the moment and will continue this trend into patch 10.13. We need to see how these ability power changes affect the way Nunu is built.

R - Absolute Zero

  • SHIELD RATIO 0.3/0.4/0.5 bonus health to0.3/0.4/0.5 bonus health, 1.5 ability power

EarlyGame tip: Experiment with Ability Power builds! Of course, if your match dictates you need the tank stats, then go for it! But if there is potential, get creative with adding some ability power in your items to throw your enemies off.

Notable nerfs

Yuumi Lo L

Riot Games has nerfed a few champions for Patch 10.13 and most of them we are not surprised to see, these are:

  • Aphelios
  • Cassiopeia
  • Kalista
  • Ornn
  • Syndra
  • Yuumi

Riot Games, firstly, thank you for nerfing Yuumi. This Cat has been out of control in Patch 10.12, and we are grateful for the changes.

Yuumi's E, Zoomies, has had a 15% max mana cost increase to community satisfaction. This increase should stop her infinite healing which, we saw abused in professional play over the weekend.

In our previous patch note discussion, we mentioned Ornn was just broken at the moment, the champion that could do everything, but no more. Sort of. Ornn's passive, Living Forge, now retain previous health and mana percentages, to hopefully make him less of a menace in professional play.

Professional players will still pick Ornn rest assured, but hopefully, this change will see some variety in the top lane for the LoL Esports scene. We still think some changes should be made to his overall health and armor, but we need to see how Patch 10.13 progresses.

"Aphelios has not waned with the moons—instead, he’s been a persistent star in professional play."

Aphelios continues to be knocked down in Patch 10.13 with a reduction in his attack damage growth, from 2.2 to 2. His biggest change was the removal of resets of his Q, Crescendum, the Chakram, that no longer resets the duration of Chakram on Epic Monsters.

This change will affect professional play, but his kit is so hard to balance, as we've previously mentioned on other patch notes, he'll still be an S+ priority pick for the players this upcoming weekend.

Conclusion

League of Legends saw some much-needed adjustments to Yuumi, Aphelios, Ornn, and Syndra who were dominating all lanes in LoL. For the full list of notes, you can check out Riot Games' article on Patch 10.13.
