League of Legends is full of surprises sometimes. Last night we had the incredible reveal of Lillia, the new LoL champion coming to Summoner's Rift much sooner than we anticipated. Now we have the lol patch 10.14 notes to discuss! You know the drill, let's get into it, shall we?

Riot Games, we love surprises! Last night, Riot Games took to Twitter to unveil Lillia, The Bashful Bloom, with the prancing deer gaining many fans rather quickly. If you need a full run-down of Lillia and her abilities, we have you covered.

For patch 10.14, however, you can expect to see Conqueror Nautilus, Arcanist Zoe, Arcanist Zoe Prestige Edition, Arcanist Shaco, and Arcanist Kog'Maw to be available on the store July 9, 2020. Infernal Karthus, Infernal Vel'Koz, and Infernal Kennen will arrive on July 16, 2020.

Notable Buffs

Patch 10.14 saw multiple champions buffed, which include:

  • Alistar
  • Karthus
  • Kha'Zix
  • Riven
  • Sejuani
  • Zed

Let us discuss some notable changes.

"Slinging more death over to the deathsinger by targeting his two main roles. With Jungle Karthus, we’re shifting some of his power against monsters to enemy champions so he feels less farming-focused"

Karthus Jungle has been hit, quite significantly, with a 15% increase in damage reduction to monsters, stopping this undead singer from changing careers into a full-time farmer. The increase in his health from 528 to 550, and his movement speed from 325 to 335, puts him right where he belongs. In the middle lane. His E, Defile, has also been tweaked as a "cherry on top" from Riot Games.

E - Defile (Updated)

  • MANA RESTORE: Always
  • AOE DAMAGE TICK RATE: Deals damage 4 times per second (damage and cost per second are unchanged). Deactivating Defile deals 1 tick’s worth of damage.
"We've kept it cool when looking at Sejuani and Bristle due to their propensity to take over pro play."

Sejuani is getting some attention, though we do wonder if these changes will significantly push her up in the Jungle for patch 10.14, especially in high-level play. Her E, Permafrost, is getting an increase from 40/90/140/190/240 to 55/105/155/205/255. A reduction in the frost cooldown has been made to now 8 seconds at all levels, calling into question how OP her stun will be for patch 10.14.

"Due to current meta builds that simply don’t align with Riven’s playstyle, her depth and breadth of play has been suffering, and she’s been feeling a bit… exiled."

Riven, now there is a name we have not heard in a while. Riven has been suffering in the top lane for too long, so Riot Games has gone ahead and tweaked her passive, Runic Blade, to deal more bonus damage. The increase is quite dramatic. Originally at 25-50% total attack damage, it has now been buffed to 30-60% total attack damage, with critical strikes also applying to the damage dealt.

This change should let Riven stand on her own two feet in the top lane, without being knocked up into the air by an Ornn. We, for one, welcome the new Riven buffs and look forward to seeing a more diverse set of champions played up there besides the known tanks.

"Yeah, you heard us—with the landscape of the game changing drastically from season 3, we’re reverting his W speed nerf all the way back from patch 3.13 and increasing its accessibility"

You have probably seen it already, but we have saved the best notable change for last. Zed's W, Living Shadow, is being reverted to how it was in patch 3.13! His missile speed has been dramatically increased from 1750 to 2500, with a significant cooldown reduction from 22/20/18/16/14 seconds to 20/18.5/17/15.5/14 seconds.

Zed's back, baby! We are excited to see this mid-lane Assassin make a return, perhaps even in pro play? If you need some Zed plays, we have only got the best plays of ALL TIME from Faker, that you need to see.

Notable Nerfs

Ezreal Lo L cinematic

Riot Games has nerfed a few champions for Patch 10.14 and most of them we are not surprised to see, these are:

  • Ezreal
  • Pyke
  • Trundle
  • Varus
  • Volibear
  • Wukong

In our previous patch note discussion, we mentioned Wukong needed more than a few additional changes right now to his kit, as he is far too powerful still. The changes to his R, Cyclone, has decreased his knockup duration, from 0.75 seconds to 0.6 seconds.

These changes are still not enough, and we highly expect this Monkey to changed again in Patch 10.15, as his overall state is powerful. If you want a great top lane champion to play right now, Wukong is one of the best. The LoL community was not exactly happy with such small changes, but we will need to see how this further impacts his spot at the top of the top lane.

Volibear has had some large changes made to his attack speed, from 0.66 to 0.625, and his W, Frenzied Maul, has changed, as wounded enemy heal is now reduced by 50% on minions and monsters. Volibear is picked for a good reason, as he is OP right now. We hope with these changes added, Volibear will hopefully stop being a relentless frenzy, specifically in the Jungle.

Oh Pyke-mid, how we loved you so. Pyke and his set of changes have finally pulled him away from mid lane. These changes are vast, so we will be sure to link the full patch-notes at the end of the article. Overall Pyke in the middle lane was causing a significant game-play imbalance, so Riot Games has made some significant changes to pull the slippery Assassin back to support. What do you think of these Pyke changes?

Last on our list is Ezreal, who has seen an increase in cooldown to his E, Arcane Shift, from 25/22/19/16/13 seconds to 28/25/22/19/16 seconds. We understand the logic here Riot Games, but we strongly think Ezreal needs more than just a change to his E. Right now, Ezreal is a very strong pick in the bottom lane, with the addition of Kalista following not too far behind.

These changes make Ezreal more vulnerable yes, but it still doesn't change the amount of damage he can out-put in a single game. We'd like to see more changes to him in Patch 10.15, especially around his overall DPS.

Conclusion

That about wraps up our discussion! What do you think about these changes? Overall, the buffs are a nice welcome but feel the nerfs towards Ezreal and Wukong were very lack-luster. If you need the full patch notes, Riot Games has Patch 10.14 notes up.
