Team Liquid are threading upon dangerous ground in the North American group of ESL Pro League Season 11. The Intel Grand Slam Season 2 winners are sitting in second place currently but have played more games than anyone else and could easily find themselves looking from the outside in when it’s all said and done.
A four-game split might not be enough for Team Liquid
Liquid have taken part in four of the six games played so far in North America, with varying success. They started out well in their ESL Pro League Season 11 opener versus Made in Brazil but a surprising hiccup in the second game with Swole Patrol opened up room for trouble.
That potential was realized when TL split their next two games as well. FURIA, who were playing in their first group game, made sure Liquid are uncomfortable in the next few days by beating them 2-1 in one of the better matches played so far in Season 11. That way Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella and co.’s hard-earned win over 100 Thieves beforehand is simply keeping them in with a chance at this point.
Speaking of the Thieves, they were the other busy side on the weekend. The Liquid loss is the only stain on their record after three games played. Victories against Swole Patrol and Evil Geniuses are enough to keep the team on top of the group.
That could change however, with a couple of matches scheduled for later today. FURIA and Swole Patrol have an opportunity to equal the number of wins 100 Thieves currently have if they are able to win on the day. FURIA are engaged in a South American derby with Made in Brazil while Swole Patrol will try to delay Evil Geniuses’ first W in ESL Pro League Season 11.
