Fabian “Febiven” Deepstratten has announced his retirement from pro League of Legends play. The Dutch mid laner led Fnatic to a 18-0 split and Worlds semifinal in 2015, before playing on several other EU and NA teams.

Febiven’s professional career has spanned seven years since his debut on the Cloud9 Eclipse - the European challenger team of the famous NA organization - in 2014. However, most fans first noticed him as he came to the rebuilt Fnatic in 2015 to replace the legendary mid laner Enrique "xPeke" Cedeño Martínez. These were huge shoes to fill - but fill them he did.
Febiven’s rookie EU LCS year was the stuff of legends. Together with two other players who made their name on Fnatic, Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon and Kim "Reignover" Yeu-jin, he won his debut LCS split after a showdown with the new and hot Unicorns of Love. At MSI, the previously-untested Dutch mid would take on Faker - and a showy solokill on Zed made everyone take notice.
He followed it up with a still unmatched 18-0 summer split where Fnatic had no losses until the explosive final with Origen - which his team won 3-2. At Worlds, Fnatic would emerge from a bloody brawl with AHQ, Cloud9 and Invictus Gaming to claim first place in the group and sweep China’s last hope EDward Gaming before being stopped by KOO Tigers in the semifinals.
Sadly, yet another roster shuffle prompted by the departure of three Fnatic players in the off-season left him on a weaker roster in the next year. He spent another year on Fnatic before moving on to H2K in 2017, Clutch Gaming in 2018 and the ill-fated Misfits Gaming superstar roster in 2019. Earlier this year, he switched teams again, joining the NCL regional league with Fnatic Rising.
Despite some show-stealing assassin plays, throughout his career Febiven was most known as a master of control mages such as Azir, Syndra and Orianna. However, he never forgot his bloodthirsty roots and kept high win rates on assassins like Leblanc and Akali.
Thanks for everything, Febi, and GG!
