How do Seasons Work in League of Legends?
As mentioned, a season is around a year. Each season is also divided into three splits. In these splits, players are able to play ranked games in which they earn points to climb the ranked ladder. At the end of each split, players gain small rewards depending on how many games they’d won throughout it.
At the end of a season, the results will also be tabulated and players gain even more rewards for having played in the ranked system. At the end of each LoL season, special skins will be given out depending on a player's rank as well as icons and emotes.
