LoL: The Next Champion is Revealed?

Ruined King League of Legends 1 1
Will the Ruined King be joining League of Legends?

This weekend a lot happened. Damwon brought the crown back to the LCK with their 3-1 victory over Suning and we got a trailer for the new game Riot and Airship Syndicate have been working on together – Ruined King: A League of Legends Story.

The trailer looked amazing introducing us to some of the characters which we will encounter in the game. The likes of Sarah Fortune alongside Illaoi starting bar brawls, as well as Yasuo and Ahri who were making their journey to Bilgewater. Of course, other champions like Braum were quite a surprise since… Braum is from Freljord… the other end of Runeterra.

One character introduced in the trailer though could be the key to the next champion who will be playable on Summoner’s Rift. The end of the trailer shows the six heroes on a ship on their way to the Shadow Isles, where a shadowed figure appears. This character is none other than the Ruined King himself.

Through this trailer, as well as the roadmap which Riot released in September, we can pretty much deduct that the Ruined King is going to be one of the next champions which you can play in League of Legends.

First of all, how are we so sure that this character introduced in the trailer is the Ruined King? Well, the sword the character is holding looks identical to that of the reworked icon of the new Blade of the Ruined King. Not to mention the armour is eerily similar to that of Hecarim, who was the Ruined King’s most loyal follower.

Now, why do we believe he is going to be one of the next champions? Well, looking at the September roadmap we were given the hint that this champion is someone we’re already familiar with thanks to League of Legends lore. Everyone has heard of the Ruined King already, right? So check.

Also, the September roadmap showed a photo of a ring with a specific sigil on it and during the trailer, when looking at the Sword the Ruined King is holding, we see the exact same sigil on the hilt of the blade. Coincidence? We think not.

Lastly, in the September roadmap, the description given by Riot, though vague, could easily describe the Ruined King. Since it’s all about love and doing anything in their power for love. If you know anything about League of Legends lore, then you might know that the Ruined King travelled to the end of the world for his dead wife to try and bring her back to life… of course, all this went awry and the Blessed Isles ended up exploding due to a spell he made, which resulted in the Blessed Isles turning into the Shadow Isles as we know them today.

One more point is the release date. In the September roadmap, this champion was announced to come in early 2021. And when is Ruined King: A League of Legends story coming… you guessed it! Early 2021.

Therefore, we can say with 99% certainty that the next (or one of the next) champion is going to be the Ruined King!
