LoL Patch 11.17 is out today and with it is the last big patch update for a while. We’re nearing the 2021 World Championship and Riot is going to be more careful with their patch as we near LoL Patch 11.19 – the World’s Patch.
This time around, we’ve got quite a few highlights, with Amumu getting more bandages and Lucian being shifted back into the bot lane. Of course, we’ve also got the usual buffs for weaker champions and nerfs for over performers. So, let’s go over the most important parts.

Amumu Updates in LoL Patch 11.17
Amumu got a slight update in LoL Patch 11.17 to make him a pick even players in higher elos will choose. His early game has been his downfall, hence, why Riot has decided to give his Q two charges. This gives players more choices for playmaking. Do they use both or hold onto one?

To even things out, some of his late game prowess has been scaled back to make up for the stronger early game. This means on paper he’ll be weaker in the late game, but according to Riot, he is going to have more items by the time he gets to higher levels since he’ll now be more impactful in the early game.
Lucian Update in LoL Patch 11.17
Lucian is another champion who got a slight update in LoL Patch 11.17. He’s been a viable pick in the mid lane in pro play, but Riot wants to shift him back to the bot lane, where he was originally from. There is only room for one mid lane marksman, and that is Akshan – at least that’s what Riot wants.

Lucian's ultimate has been extremely useful in solo lanes thanks to the scaling, so Riot has decided to smooth out the power curve to scale with gold. Also, ally buffs will empower his next 2 basic attacks, which means he will want to play alongside a support, so he can hard engage as often as he wants.

Gangplank Update in LoL Patch 11.17
Gangplank has been too strong in the early game. No one could counter the pirate, so Riot is making a few changes, so he doesn’t abuse Grasp of the Undying alongside his Q. From now on the Q will count as a ranged basic attack.
- Worlds 2021 is just around the corner. This time without G2 and Rekkles.
To make up for those changes, and to ensure Gangplanks late game power stays strong, Riot did give him a little boost. What, you might ask? More barrels, of course! Instead of having 3 at every point, he will now have a max of 5 once he puts all his points into E.
Viego Nerfs in LoL Patch 11.17
Viego got quite a few nerfs in LoL Patch 11.17 since he’s just been too powerful, especially in higher elos and pro play. His detection radius in the black mist has been increased, his auto attack range decreased, meaning he won’t be able to hide as easily anymore.
- Viego will be joining Pentakill on their next full-length album!
He’s been popping off too hard even with tank builds, so his damage also saw a cut in LoL Patch 11.17 – especially regarding his resets. Oh, and the crowd control in his ultimate has also been reduced. Hopefully, games against Viego will be fairer from now on.
Which Skins Released in LoL Patch 11.17?
Eight skins have been released in LoL Patch 11.17. They should be available in the store later today or tomorrow since it usually takes a day or two until they go live, but fans can get excited about the Crime City Nightmare skins for these champions:
- Akali
- Shaco
- Darius
- Twisted Fate
- Zyra
Alongside the five Crime City Nightmare skins, three Phoenix skins are also part of LoL Patch 11.17. These graceful skins will be donned by:
- Anivia
- Seraphine
- Xayah
Those are some of the most notable changes in LoL Patch 11.17. Have fun and enjoy the last big patch change. LoL Patch 11.18 and 11.19 won’t have too many updates since Riot is preparing for the 2021 World Championship and doesn’t want to shake up the meta too much before then.
When Will LoL Patch 11.18 Release?
LoL Patch 11.18 will release on September 9, so as usual, in two weeks time. This time, we'll also get a Pentakill comeback and naturally, Pentakill skins, so all you metal fans will have a great time with LoL Patch 11.18, even if the changes won't be significant in it.
